Unread supports three different display modes for articles:
Feed Text: With this mode, Unread shows the article as it appears in the feed. This is best when the RSS feed includes full article content.
Webpage Text: With this mode, Unread parses the article content out of the webpage. This mode is best when the RSS feed contains only article summaries.
Feed and Webpage Text: With this mode, Unread shows both the feed text and webpage text. This is best for link articles, where the feed contains full article content and the article is primarily a link to another article. For example, Daring Fireball articles often consist of a quote from and link to another article, along with additional commentary. In the case of a Daring Fireball article, this mode lets you see both the Daring Fireball article and the article to which it links.
Change the display mode of an article as follows:
On iPhone and iPad:
- Open the article.
- Swipe the screen to the left and choose Display from the resulting menu.
- Choose the preferred display mode from the resulting submenu.
Unread will ask whether you want to apply that change to all articles of that type (traditional article versus link article) from that feed.
On Mac:
- Open the Article
- Choose the display mode (Feed Text, Webpage Text, or Feed and Webpage Text) from the View menu.
To apply that change to all articles of that type (traditional article versus link article) from that feed, click the Apply button at the top of the article.
